This is the last of my Yosemite paintings. A couple of artists sat outside of the Ahwahnee Hotel and painted. This one is simplified and has good use of light and shadow areas.
This was an afternoon painting of the meadow between the tunnel and Wawona. It is a beauty.

This was painted in the meadow below Half Dome. The big oak had a beautiful gold glow as the light first hit it.
I've been working to put the final touches on my Yosemite series and this is the first one completed. I have a few more to go.
This is an ethereal Magnolia that shows against the sky. It was quite a challenge to paint and get the overlaps and center of interest to work.
24x20 and 25 1/2 x35 framed

This is a tree near Gray Eagle. We hiked out into the lakes area and painted. It was a bit dull when I returned to the studio so I went into it with some stronger hues. I'll probably work on it again and add some yellowish greens in front of the tree. They don't show as well as I would like in the photo. 14x11
This is a little 6"x6" painting that I did to get ready to travel to Yosemite next week. It also serves as an escape from the current financial upheaval.
Just finished!! A little sketch of Shasta Mountain. This has lots of cool hues in the middle and background with some warms right up front. 8"x8", Oil on canvas board,
I just finished this little turtle. He is wooden and has great lines, although the wood swirls barely show from a foot or two away so he doesn't show much of that. 4"x4" oil on stretched canvas
Most of my life I wanted to draw and paint so when the opportunity arose, I went for it and studied art. It has been a long journey. Because I started later in life, and had lots of catching up to do, I paint every day, draw a few objects, ideas or whatever happens into my mind.
Another creative outlet for me is garden design and creative cooking. I read lots of recipes then take off and do my own thing. Creativity is my driving force.
Life with an art studio is wonderful, there is always a space to go to - sort photo ideas, sketch, open a new canvas and dream of the ultimate painting. There is usuall time to paint during the day.
You can see my work at WestAmerica Bank, Santa Rosa, Johnny's Java, Cotati and Fidelity National Trust starting March 3, 2012 the Apple Blossom Festival in Sebastopol, CA in April 2012.
